Louisville lawmakers clarify food truck restrictions
October 17, 2019
Louisville city council members Tuesday agreed to a food truck ordinance that clarifies where trucks can park and addresses some other operator concerns, according to a Courier-Journal report. The legislation will go before the full council on Oct. 24.
Concerns addressed include:
- The restriction against vending in residential areas has been clarified to explain that it does not apply to "when a stationary vendor is operating as a contracted caterer in conjunction with a private event."
- A provision concerning minimum parking spaces at private properties now places responsibility for meeting the requirements on the property owner, not the food truck.
- Food trucks are permitted to park in another metered space should another vehicle park in their reserved space.
- The generator requirement has been removed.
