Maine officials have shelved a proposal to bring food trucks to the state government office complex in Augusta after receiving only two responses from food truck operators, according to the Kennebec Journal. There are few dining options for about 750 workers at the complex.
In November the state sought quotes from food trucks to serve food outside its complex on the former grounds of the Augusta Mental Health Institute on the east side of the Kennebec River. After receiving only two proposals, state official said Friday they plan to shelve the plan for now and try again in the spring.
David Heidrich, a spokesman for the state department of administrative and financial services, said the state learned that most food trucks shut down for the winter and may not be seeking work at this time of year.
