The owners of Maine Wicked Goods Mercantile in Freeport, Maine, are asking the local planning board to allow more food trucks in its commercial district, a change they say would stimulate economic development in the neighborhood, according to a Portland Press Herald report.
Assistant Planner Caroline Pelletier told the board food trucks in the district would have to comply with standards for signs, design, landscaping and vehicular and pedestrian access.
Since the Freeport council allowed limited food truck operation in 2014, the Maine Beer Company, a brewery with a tasting room, is the only business in the district that is allowed to have a food truck on its property, according to Amanda Kent, co-owner of Maine Wicked Goods Mercantile.
