Medford, Oregon considers extending food truck hours

July 7, 2017

The Medford, Oregon city council is considering allowing food trucks to stay open as late as 2:30 a.m., according to The Mail Tribune.

Matt Brinkley, city planning director, told the council Thursday the proposed ordinance would allow food trucks to use parking spots from 10 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. while serving customers. The food trucks would have to be self contained, without the need for utility connections, and be movable without another vehicle’s assistance.

The council decided to seek public input.

In June, the council amended an ordinance to allow bigger food carts within the city limits.

Medford has seen a growing number of mobile units in the last 10 years. There were 106 food trucks registered in Jackson County, according to the 2016 County Environmental Public Health annual report.
