Michigan town considers new food truck rules

January 7, 2020

Kalamazoo, Michigan food trucks will have license fees reduced under a proposed change to the city's food truck ordinance. The city commission approved the first reading of proposed changes after gathering input from businesses, according to an mns.com report.

License fees will be reduced from $500 to $300. In addition, trucks will still require fire safety inspections and will be allowed to place sandwich board signs on sidewalks next to the vehicles as long as pedestrians are not blocked.

Food trailers can also apply for licenses. The commission also suggested that language governing operating a truck or trailer on private property be clarified.
