Residents of Kalamazoo, Michigan will likely have more food trucks now that the city commission removed a limit on the number of food trucks allowed and will reduce the license fee from $500 to $300, according to a msn.com report.
The city previously limited the number of trucks to 10.
The new ordinance also allows food trailers to apply for licenses, mandates fire safety inspections and permits sandwich board menus on a sidewalk near the truck as long as there is a sufficient pedestrian walkway.
Food trucks are also allowed to park temporarily on a public street and sell ready-to-eat food. Trucks do not need a license to operate at public events.
