Midway Airport has been removed from a plan to allow food trucks at Chicago's two airports, according to the Chicago Sun Times. Marty Quinn, a southwest side city alderman, demanded the exemption. He said the plan to permit food trucks at Midway would undermine his efforts to develop the airport's south corridor.
Juan Manzano, the deputy aviation commissioner who runs the concessions at both airports, apologized and said there is no food truck program at Midway under consideration.
Food trucks at O'Hare Airport will pay an annual fee of $200 to set up shop at staging areas. The city expects to allocate space for five food trucks in lots used as staging areas for taxis, limousines and ride-hailing vehicles.
