Milwaukee lawmakers propose banning food trucks for 1-mile stretch

February 27, 2019

The Milwaukee Common Council has passed a resolution to ban food trucks from a one-mile section of West National Avenue, according to Urban Milwaukee. The resolution, sponsored by Alderman Robert Donovan, would ban food trucks from selling on the avenue from South Layton Boulevard, west to South 39th Street.

Donovan, citing concerns about congestion and business complaints about losing parking spaces, has already succeeded in banning food trucks in other parts of the eighth aldermanic district. Other city alderpersons have successfully introduced food truck bans in the city.

The resolution now goes to Mayor Tom Barrett, who has not vetoed any proposed food truck bans.
