A proposal to allow food trucks in Tupelo, Mississippi, has been passed unanimously by the local council, but with the most controversial provisions stripped out. Local Mayor Jason Shelton told the paper that he won’t sign the bill, but said that it will still go into effect without his signature, according to a report in the Daily Journal.
By a 5–0 vote, with two council members absent, the ordinance allows food trucks to operate locally. A provision to ban parking on certain streets was stripped out of the final draft.
A mobile vending permit fee will cost $25 and the entire cost to the food truck operator will be $45, according to the report.
