Mississippi newspaper slams food truck regulations

September 18, 2018

The Daily Journal has criticized proposed food truck regulations for Tupelo, Mississippi, in an editorial, saying that they are unneeded.

The editorial states that food trucks "significantly add to the city's quality of life — not to mention its culinary options — and fit into Tupelo's strategic plans to make the All America city more vibrant and more appealing to younger residents."

Proponents of the regulations, which would restrict food trucks from operating alongside public thoroughfares, have not cited any safety concerns, the editorial noted, and the food prep facilities that the trucks use already are regulated by the same rules governing restaurants.
