Mississippi town explores food truck requirements

October 18, 2019

The city of Hattiesburg, Mississippi is exploring food truck licensing procedures and plans to have an ordinance for the council to review in November, according to a Hattiesburg American report.

While the city does not have a food truck ordinance, food trucks are currently required to get permission from a private property owner to serve on a property that is zoned to allow for commercial activity, said Samantha McCain, chief communications officer for the city. Trucks must also be set up not to impede traffic or create safety hazards.

The city is also considering requiring food trucks to have access to an approved waste site.
