The Washington, Missouri, city council has approved a food truck ordinance that allows trucks to park on public property in two areas of the city, but restricts food trucks from being within 10 feet of a building, according to the Missourian.
The city's fire department worked with Sal Maniaci, community and economic development director, to create the new requirements, which include providing a copy of propane or natural gas system inspections and tank size limitations. The food trucks cannot block fire hydrants, fire lanes, fire department connections or exits.
Trucks must have a certificate of insurance that names the city as insured and indemnifies the city from liability. The truck operators must carry a minimum of $1 million in insurance, and they must provide a photo and a description for how the truck will be set up, along with proof of registration and vehicle license. The trucks must also meet Franklin County health codes and pay a permit fee of $500 annually or $125 quarterly.
