The Lincoln City Council, in Nebraska, has expanded its food truck regulation to let food truck operators serve for up to four hours in communities and the downtown area.

The regulation change comes after pilot programs, according to a Lincoln Journal Star report.

The city's food truck program kicked off 12 years ago and at the time food truck operators needed to get permission from private property owners or a special event permit to operate in the downtown area.

Last year the city ran a pilot to let trucks serve in residential areas.
