Before the coronavirus hit New York, a local non-profit focused on feeding the poor and hungry, Rethink Food, was busy serving up about 10,000 meals a week.
Now due to COVID-19 and NY being a hot bed for the pandemic, the non-profit is launching food trucks to expand its outreach — focusing on those working at hospitals, according to a New York Post report.
Rethink aims to deliver 500 free meals a day to two local healthcare centers to start and will add more in the following weeks, and hopes to have a fleet of 10 trucks up and running. The effort will cost over a half million dollars and so far $100,000 has been raised.
