The Oklahoma City school district uses a food truck for feeding hungry children in the summer, according to newsok.com.
The meals are delivered in a repurposed district vehicle known as Fast Trax.
The district first used the food truck last summer to expand the summer food service program, a federal initiative administered by the Department of Agriculture. The program seeks to provide anyone 18 or younger with a free meal at an approved site.
The program has multiple sponsors throughout the state. More than a million meals were served in 2016, according to the state's education department. The department wants to see a 10 percent increase in the number of meals served in 2017.
The truck is supported by donations, said Jeff Edwards, El Reno Public Schools child nutrition director.
