An online petition that's gathered over 12,000 signatures aims to make lawmakers relax food truck restrictions in Grand Prairie, Texas.
The Change.org effort states that food trucks are a good thing for local communities and that restrictive rules are not beneficial for food truck operators or residents, according to a Dallas Morning News report.
Grand Prairie allows permanent food trucks at two sites, and to set up someone else food truck operators must get a special event permit, which operators say can be cumbersome.
Malcom Chakery, who initiated the petition, told the news outlet that other Texas cities are supporting food trucks without hurting brick-and-mortar restaurants.
