Oregon town to test food truck pod

February 26, 2019

Lawmakers in Hermiston, Oregon, have approved a food truck pod on a trial basis in a city-owned parking area where it will run from April through October, according to the East Oregonian. The pod will be located in a lot across from the post office on Orchard Avenue and will have between four and eight food trucks.

Monica Todd, who previously worked as general manager of Nookie's Restaurant in Hermiston, will operate the pod. Todd will recruit the vendors, pay utilities and maintenance, and charge vendors rent. The city will install lighting and an electrical hookup so that trucks don't have to bring their own generators.

A survey found that about 90 percent of city respondents supported having a food truck pod. The trucks will be required to move once a week. No more than two trucks will be allowed to sell the same type of cuisine.
