Panda Express is all about spreading good fortune and is driving a nationwide good fortune tour effort via its philanthropic Panda Cares Foundation.
The Panda Cares Tour is stopping in six U.S. cities offering chocolate-covered fortune cookies in exchange for a $1 donation supporting health and education programs for underserved youth, according to a press release. The programs include the local Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Boys & Girls Clubs.
It's all in celebration of the brand's annual Panda Cares Day and the foundation's anniversary on Aug. 8.
The journey started in Brooklyn on July 16, with stops in Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix and Los Angeles, and ends on Aug. 8 in San Francisco.
Since 1999, Panda Cares has raised over $247 million.
"Panda Cares Day has a special place in our hearts, and now in its third year, we are bringing our first month-long celebration to our guests and our communities," Dr. Peggy Cherng, co-founder and co-CEO of Panda Express, said in the release. "The Panda Cares Tour is inspired by Panda Cares' purpose of bringing smiles and hope to kids everywhere. It's a fun activity that the whole family can do together, and it's a 'thank-you' to our guests and associates who have joined us in fostering the spirit of kindness and giving over the years."
Panda Cares will also be hosting community events starting Aug. 8 at 100 Boys and Girls Clubs across the nation, donating books, school materials, sports and play equipment.
