A food truck operator's program to help residents in need last year during the pandemic is continuing due to local support.

During 2020 the Moon Dogs food truck launched a "pay what you can" effort to help customers in Chatham, New York, in the Hudson Valley area, who were struggling financially due to COVID-19.

The program has continued thanks to the support of full-pay customers, according to a Times Union report.

The food truck's owner, Adam Moon, initially thought the program would last a few weeks on the initial $1,000 donation from a friend.

"It is impressive how many people are helping others. Say you get 10 regular customers, and you have one person out of those 10 who isn't paying — the other nine cover them," Moon told the news outlet.
