The Parksley, Virgina town council is considering rules that would crack down on food trucks by only allowing them to sell food during special events such as festivals and would require vendors to get a permit costing $30 per event, according to a report by Eastern Shore Post.

"I have nothing against food trucks, but we are trying to get new businesses into the Town of Parksley," Frank Russell, mayor of Parksley, said during a hearing. "How are we going to try to entice businesses to come to the Town of Parksley if we don't try to protect the ones that we have?"

Not all council members agree with this move with member Sam Welch stating, "We're targeting one business type, which I think is wrong."

Other council members pointed out that no restaurant owners attended the initial public hearing on Sept. 11. The council will reconvene on Sept. 25 to discuss the proposed ordinance in more detail.
