Pennsylvania township to regulate food trucks

February 20, 2018

Bethlehem Township, Pennsylvania, commissioners have reviewed a zoning ordinance to cover food trucks, wineries and distilleries, according to The Morning Call.

The ordinance was suggested by Planning Director Nathan Jones, who said there are no regulations for such businesses.

Under the proposed ordinance, mobile food vendors are divided into those preparing and serving food out of a truck and sidewalk vendors serving food out of a nonmotorized piece of equipment.

Mobile food vendors must be 10 feet away from the nearest building, cannot broadcast music, cannot have seating and may operate only from dawn to dusk. Ice cream trucks would not be regulated under the ordinance.
