Pittsburgh Food Truck Park, slated to open in the spring, invites people to sample food from at least eight food trucks and drink a dozen-plus local craft beers and some draft wines on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
The park is at the former Mr. Smalls Skatepark right on the riverfront trail and River Front Drive beneath the 40th Street Bridge to Lawrenceville.
Because they just got their finalized lease and haven't started construction yet, this preview — the Truck Yeah! Round-up — is more "an attempt to create the atmosphere that we're going to create," said Matt Lang, who is starting the permanent food truck park with his brothers Shawn and Tony.
The brothers, whose Lang Restaurant Group runs Pig Iron Public House, are planning a bar and beer garden deck, outdoor tables, fire pits and a game yard for corn hole and other pursuits. There will be music and other events outside and inside.
There will be spaces for up to six food trucks, which will rotate daily.
Vendors at the preview event will include The Coop Chicken and Waffles, Doce Taqueria, Franktuary, Nakama, Pittsburgh Po'boy, Pittsburgh Sandwich Society, Pittsburgh Smokehouse and Sinkers & Suds.
