Pizza food truck has a community mission

Malawi's Pizza is on a mission to help feed the community in northern Virginia.

The mission is called Feed FXBG and aims to feed the hungry. The pizzeria has had its own "Pizza with a Purpose" effort since opening in Fredericksburg four years ago, according to a Potoma Local News report.

It's also launched a food truck as part of the effort.

Malawi's Pizza's charity efforts include the "Journey to a Million Meals," which aims to give a meal to a child in Malawi, Africa for every meal bought in the restaurant. The Feed FXBG is an offshoot of that program brought to a local level.

"We are thrilled to make it through the difficulties presented by the pandemic," owner Patrick Church said in a press release. "It truly was the local, loyal patrons that carried us through these difficult times."
