Pizza Hut is descending on Miami in a big way to pull out all the stops for the Feb. 2 Super Bowl as part of the brand's second year as the Official Pizza Sponsor of the NFL. The 54th staging of the big game pits the San Francisco 49ers against the Kansas City Chiefs on a Sunday that Pizza Hut expects to sell more than 1.5 million pies.
But the Yum-parented brand has a lot more in store for the big day and even the run up to it, since Pizza Hut is also sponsoring a weekly sports and pop culture prediction contest, called Yahoo Sports Fantasy Slate, where fans can win cash, while it will give out 30,000 slices of pizza delivered via branded Ford F250 Trucks, scooters and bikes at more than 15 Miami hotspots, like Wynwood Walls and Little Havana.
"We know our fans take football seriously, so all season long we've been laser-focused on delivering a hot, fast and reliable customer experience on NFL game days," Pizza Hut Chief Customer and Operations Officer Nicolas Burquier, said in a news release. "Regardless of where our fans are experiencing Super Bowl LIV, we have our teams preparing nationwide to make sure the biggest day in football goes off without a hitch."
The brand will also run a special on Meat Lover's Pizza around the big game for $10, and pregame, it's staging an integration with Fox, featuring football legends Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. And just for fun, the brand offered these stats on game-day consumption:
The brand and its nonprofit partner, First Book, are also awarding $54,000 in grants to greater Miami educators to buy books and other classroom resources.
