Several Rhode Island food truck operators are all about giving back this holiday season.
Just before Santa arrived Christmas Eve, Steve Gilman parked in a hotel parking lot in Warwick, Rhode Island to offer coffee, cookies and barbecues fare to the homeless trying to survive COVID-19, according to a Providence Journal report.
Gilman, who runs Poppy's Waffles, delivered dozens of cupcakes as well that he made in his food truck, as well as hot beverages from the Presto Strange O food truck.
The effort was organized with the assistance of FoodTrucksIn.com, an online site run by Eric Weiner that helps foodies find local food truck fare.
"With most of the trucks starting to shut down for the holiday, and maybe with a little left over from the season," Weiner told the news outlet, adding "they were able to do something nice."
