The San Diego Planning Commission has unanimously endorsed more flexible rules for food trucks, allowing trucks to have standing tables, shade structures and signs of up to six square feet on private property, according to a San Diego Union-Tribune report.
Michael DiLauro, owner of Urban Catering Pizza Truck, supports the change, and said being able to have canopies and tables will improve his service. He said the changes would have the greatest impact during food truck events at microbreweries, apartment complexes and corporate business parks.
Last year, the city decided to allow the trucks to operate without permits in residential, multi-family zones and on certain commercial properties within a residential zone.
