Scam targets food trucks in Birmingham

A scam is targeting food trucks and vendors in Birmingham, Alabama. The scammers are impersonating event organizers for the Birmingham Restaurant Week's Preview Party on July 15, and are asking food trucks and vendors to pay to participate in the event, according to a report by ABC 3340.

The scammers ask for payment both for participation, parking and food preparation. The official event is not accepting applications and is not attempting to collect additional fees.

Police are warning vendors not to respond to these scammers and to verify any emails by reaching out directly to Birmingham Restaurant Week.
