The Seattle city council is considering a proposal that would make it easier for food trucks to operate by suspending street permit fees for "vending and small-to-medium scale street and sidewalk activities and events in the public right-of-way," according to a report by Capitol Hill Seattle.
Prior to COVID-19, these permits generated around $120,000 annually. The fees usually ranged from $200 for a single event to thousands of dollars.
"The intent is to encourage more events and entrepreneurs who want to vend food in Seattle," a council memo on the proposal said.
