Self-discovery journey leads to Jamaican food truck venture

The Wah Gwaan Jerk Food Truck, serving residents in Pensacola, Florida, wasn't born of some business strategy. It came to fruition after owner Kobi West experienced a self-discovery journey into his Jamaican roots.

"I've always loved Jamaican culture. The food, the whole background of it was really interesting to me. I just wanted to embrace it," West told the Pensacola News Journal. He co-owns and operates the food truck with his girlfriend, Thalia Garcia.

The food truck's name translates to "what's going on," and has made Pensacola and Navarre its top locations.
