Soriano Produce, a food truck based in Santa Anna, California, is under investigation due to alleged SNAP and EBT benefits fraud. The owner, Esmeralda Sorinao, was recently arrested for allegedly engaging in this fraudulent activity, according to a report by the New York Post.
Investigators allegedly discovered that the food truck was processing larger numbers of SNAP transactions, including incidents where undercover officers were able to trade $100 in SNAP for $50 in cash. It had a store dollar volume of $640,924.
This comes amid a wave of SNAP fraud operations in the area, when Escamex Party Supplies was raided due to a cashier allegedly accepting benefits for fake purchases.
This violation can carry up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000.
