A proposed ordinance in Conway, South Carolina, would allow food trucks on private property, according to myrtlebeachonline.com. City Administrator Adam Emrick said the proposed rules would pave the way for food truck parks and for brick-and-mortar restaurants to set up mobile locations in parking lots.
Only two types of food trucks are allowed under existing law. Food trucks can park in residential, institutional and industrial zoning districts and construction sites for up to 30 minutes. Trucks with a franchise agreement can park on public property zoned as the riverfront district, core commercial districts and central business districts.
The proposed rules would allow licensed food trucks to serve on private property as long as they have a lease agreement and a site plan that provides two parking spaces per vending unit. They would also be restricted from operating within 150 feet of a restaurant.
