Restaurant management platform provider SpotOn has launched the SpotOn Sidekick, a handheld order and payment processing device for food trucks, pop-ups, cafes and mobile food kitchens.
The Sidekick allows order-taking, payment processing and receipt-printing — offering all the functions of the SpotOn Restaurant POS system in a 5.5-inch device, according to a press release.
The portable POS solution takes orders in-person and online and sends them directly to a Bluetooth kitchen printer. It is fitted with WiFi and 4G cellular technology, ensuring food trucks can do business anywhere.
The ability to have 4G is proving a game-change for one food trailer, Billy Bob's Boneyard, based at Dewitt Marine, in Bellaire, Michigan.
"We have boats that pull up to the dock and, now with Sidekick, we can run right out there with the handheld, swipe their card and give them their food," Lisa Dallas, Billy Bob's Boneyard owner, said in the release. "The convenience, the ability to not depend on any WiFi, I absolutely love."
