Walkingboxes, a startup company, is creating sustainable food trailers using a shipping container development appraoch and the Berlin business is getting big attention from potential customers worldwide.
The company's founder, Daniel Lorch, said the movement of small, tiny homes from such containers was the inspiration for his company and he hasn't been deterred by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to a Business Insider report.
"Since outdoor dining is less affected by the restrictions and people from the catering industry are less busy at the moment, many are dreaming of their own street food business — including top chefs," Lorch told BI. "Even if one doesn't wish for the coronavirus, it is a driving force for innovations and the rethinking and questioning of deadlocked structures."
But the prime driver for the business actually ties to his mother's quest to launch a food tuck in Germany and an inability to find the exact design and individuality she wanted.
So Lorch decided to develop the food trailer she wanted and the Walkingbox was born.
The food truck box is light enough to be towed by a mini van and features recyclable and biodegradable material, according to the report.
The mobile food eatery offers a customizable cooking space and comes in three sizes: small, medium, or large which are permanently attached to a TÜV certified tandem traile.
