Food safety company, Steritech, recently paid its respects to what it calls its Hometown Heroes — front line health, long-term care and emergency workers — in the U.S. and Canada, a news release said.

More than 108 teams and districts participated in the program, each choosing organizations in their own communities, which received "CARE" packages, some of which included lunch for staff and homemade cards from colleagues' children.

The teams impacted more than 8,100 front line workers nationally, including a Houston-area team that partnered with a restaurant to provide meals for Memorial Hermann Medical Center Hospital workers and a Missouri-based team that provide lunch for staff at Fort Zumwalt School District in O'Fallon, after those school employees had served meals to the community for weeks after the pandemic struck.

Charlotte, North Carolina-based Steritech performs more than 300,000 assessments annually for its clients and offers support to quality and safety initiatives, as well. It is part of global business services company, Rentokil Initial plc.
