Supporters of Share A Meal, a Los Angeles area food truck that delivers 150 to 200 burritos a night to the homeless, recently raised money on Facebook for the food truck, which has been serving the homeless since 2009.
Campaign organizer Alejandro Garcia said Share A Meal serves 45,000 meals a year to the homeless, who are estimated to number approximately 50,00 in Los Angeles County. The fundraiser raised $257.
Share A Meal co-founder Ravi Singh said in a TV news report in September that providing food aligns with his Sikh religion. He said he will provide free food until the system can address the problem, and that doing so is the calling of his conscience.
Co-founder Jacquie Singh said the service has developed a route that serves areas where the homeless are concentrated.
