Teen’s dream for sweet business becomes reality

Genesis Hernandez started baking up sweet goodies as a hobby, and now the 13-year-old, along with her family, is running the Sugar N Glitz food truck in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

The teenager first launched her dessert operation as a home-based business but demand prompted her to launch a food truck, according to an Albuquerque Journal report.

"I started it off as a hobby, and I didn't expect it to take this far off. But I'm really happy that it did … I've always helped out in the kitchen, but it wasn't until later on that I started doing it on my own," she told the news outlet. "We've met a lot of different people through this and through other food truck vendors and home-baking businesses. It's been cool."

Sugar N Glitz is parked at Cabezon Park every Wednesday.
