The city of Van Alstyne, in Texas, has approved a food truck ordinance to provide greater regulation over food truck operations.
City leaders, according to a Brownwood Bulletin report, wanted health and safety rules in place as there had not been prior. The ordinance, which goes into effect on July 11, requires operators to get a food-establishment permit from the county as well as a permit from the city and pay required fee.
“The whole desire was to have some form of regulation," City Manager Lane Jones told the news outlet. "There have been no regulations on food truck vendors in Van Alstyne, so it was strictly to put health and safety measures in place that the city could enforce."
