The Allen, Texas, city council on Tuesday adopted an ordinance to allow food trucks at various locations in the city, according to the Allen American.
For temporary events, food trucks would not need their own permit, but would be permitted as part of the event.
A food truck park would require a specific use permit and would be limited to commercial zoning districts. Such facilities would require electricity, restrooms, an improved parking surface and waste disposal.
Food trucks that serve as accessories to an existing establishment such as a business district would be required to operate 300 feet away from brick-and-mortar restaurants and within 1,000 feet of restrooms. The trucks would only be allowed to operate during the hours of the host business and cannot be left unattended.
