Texas couple develops mobile app to help find local food truck vendors

November 8, 2018

Finding a food truck in the oil and gas fields of Texas is about to get easier thanks to the development by a local couple of Streetbound, a locator app for food trucks operating in the Permian Basin, according to a report in MRT.

Scott and Marissa Rosell told the publication that they were watching Netflix together when she decided she wanted tacos, but it took 45 minutes to find the right truck and it was almost about to close.

The app, which is focused on the area around Odessa and Midland, Texas, includes information about local food truck vendors, menus and hours, links to the truck operators' Facebook pages and more.

The Rosells were assisted by a small business development center at the University of Texas Permian Basin campus, which was able to connect them with app developers and marketing teams, including Austin-based Volt Studios.
