Texas is improving business operations for food trucks with a statewide license change set to take place on July 1. House Bill 2844 will create one permit that food truck operators can use throughout the state, according to a report by Fox San Antonio.
Food trucks can get one permit from the Department of State Health Services, which will save them money, as the current system requires health code licenses in each city or county.
Some cities have opposed the bill, citing concerns of losing control of food truck operations. Under the bill, cities can still determine the time and place where food trucks can park.
The health department is preparing three different categories of food truck licenses, with the lowest tier for trucks selling prepackaged foods and the highest for those that cook within the truck.
