The city council in Groves, Texas has begun discussing ways to regulate food trucks, according to a Beaumont Enterprise report.
Nearby Nederland approved an 11-month food truck pilot program in December that began in January, said Groves City Manager D.E. Sosa. Food truck operators received temporary permits if they owned brick-and-mortar operations in the city or owned property with a homestead extension.
The Nederland regulations addressed a problem that most concerned Groves City Council members — ensuring that food trucks don't have a competitive advantage over other businesses that have invested time and resources in Groves, Sosa said.
