Food trucks in Toronto are split over a proposal to extend permits to 23 food trucks that will allow those trucks to operate in certain spots through Dec. 31, 2022, according to CBC. Newer food truck operators say the plan put forth by the city's licensing and standards committee is unfair. The 23 trucks currently operate in designated areas and are known as stationary curb lane vendors.
Ada Mok, co-owner of feasTO Dumpling Food Truck, sent a letter to city lawmakers on behalf of 54 food trucks that have not been included in the special permits. The newer vendors said there should be one set of rules for all food trucks.
Operators of the established food trucks say they want security for businesses they have invested in.
