Uber is launching pilot food delivery strategies, tapping robots and autonomous cars, in two California cities and also deploying an electric vehicle charging feature into its app.
The news comes as delivery services continue to meet consumer demand elevated during the two-year coronavirus pandemic and strive to provide the fastest, easiest delivery options.
The pilot delivery options are available to Uber Eats customers in Santa Monica and West Hollywood, according to a Reuters report.
The vehicle pilot is being conducted with Motional and the sidewalk robot service is a collaboration with Serve Robotics. The company is a spin-off from Postmates which Uber bought two years ago.
The electric vehicle charging app feature is a map of stations that will be available in the Uber drive app come this summer in the U.S.
