The Washington State Food Truck Association will host its annual event, Truckaroo, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Bates Technical College South Campus, 2201 S. 78th in Tacoma, Washington, according to a press release. The mission is to celebrate the uniqueness of street food, promote the interests of small business owners and raise funds for the association's legislative efforts.
Food trucks, trailers, carts and pop-ups, locally made beverages and traditional street entertainment will be on campus. Tickets can be purchased for $5 in advance through Eventbrite at www.eventbrite.com. Kids enter for free and the food vendors will offer a military discount.
Bates offers one of the only culinary food truck education programs in the state, and is run by a previous student, Chef Richard Houle. The program, which consists of 40 credits, covers everything from sanitation and food safety basics to cost control, food truck menu development and business plan creation, the release said.
