Tacitus Bailey-Yabani, operator of a store in Muskegon, Michigan, that sells West African merchandise and food, has won $5,000 to jump-start his plan to open a food truck specializing in West African cuisine, according to mlive.com.
Bailey-Yabani, an immigrant from Ghana, was among five entrepreneurs who pitched a business idea to judges during an event called 5x5 Night, sponsored by Start Garden, an organization that supports startups in western Michigan and holds a monthly competition that awards $5,000 for the best business ideas.
Bailey-Yabani, his wife, Jessica Bailey-Yabani, and a partner, William Jeannot, are looking at vehicles and hope to have their food truck ready by fall.
