Winterfest, Columbus, Ohio's, newest downtown festival, will feature nine food trucks, along with live music and locally crafted beer, according to The Lantern, the Ohio State University student newspaper. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, at Bicentennial Park.
Nancy Colvin, communications and marketing specialist for the Columbus recreation and parks department, which is presenting the event, said the the festival's goal is to give back to the community through the department's Empty Bowls initiative, which supports the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
Admission is free, but a portion of the food truck and beer sales will support the Empty Bowls cause.
The recreation department's food truck, "The Strawberry," will also contribute to the fundraiser. The truck will offer soup from Milestone 229, a local restaurant, out of purchasable handmade bowls made by volunteers.
