Women’s lifestyle website: food trucks safer than restaurants

January 2, 2019

Food trucks generally are safer to eat at than most food establishments, according to an article in The Frisky, a women's lifestyle and entertainment website. Food truck operators are "pretty professional" and take care of their hygiene, the article said.

Christie Sweitz, a Portland, Oregon health inspector, said city inspectors are happy to buy their lunch from food trucks, which have stricter safety requirements than most food establishments.

Food safety expert Sarah Klein said food trucks are required to have licenses from their health departments and are required to display them. While some cities don't require the license to be displayed, customers can ask to see the license. Food trucks are also required to display health department grades, the article said.
