Restaurant technology continues to evolve to unprecedented levels. It's getting smarter, more user friendly and more intuitive. Jason Graf, an expert in information technology and cybersecurity with Netsurion, said in a podcast that everything from menu to paying the bill can be done right at the table.

Graf said restaurants and retail establishments need solid internet access with LTE backup to ensure smooth operations. A second internet access — LTE or wireless — bolsters access. Not all internet access is created equal.

"Spend the money to get the best, most reliable internet that you can," Graf said.

Ransomware remains the biggest hinderance to technological operations today.
