The humorously named Deez Donuts got its start in southeastern Washington in July 2024, serving up miniature donuts. Since its start, the owners have put a huge emphasis on standing out from the crowd, and that is paying off with a second location coming soon. Read more about them in today's Food Truck Spotlight.

How many trucks do you operate under this brand?

One right now. Second one to come early 2027

How did you come up with the name?

My husband came up with the business name. My daughter came up with the logo. I mainly run the business!

What prompted you to start a food truck?

I've always wanted to sell mini donuts, since I someone else doing it at an event in Leavenworth, Washington When my mom passed unexpectedly in late 2023, I decided I was going to start a business as it's something I wanted to do and I know my mom would be proud and support me. So we started Deez Donuts, and I do this all for my parents. There are pictures of them always watching us in the trailer!

What's on your food truck menu? Why did you choose this cuisine?

Mini Donuts with many topping options. We also started selling ice cream on top of our mini donuts.

Do you make all the food on the truck or do you use home-based kitchen or commissary space?

We make all the mini donuts on the food truck. Keep things simple!

What's the best part of being a food truck operator?

Being my own boss, being able to choose what events I want to do, meeting so many new people and creating amazing friendships!

What's the worst part of operating a food truck?

When you do an event that you are sure to be big and make good money and it turns out to be a big FLOP!!!

What lessons have you learned since launching the truck?

Just what events to do and not to do. What to have the second truck look like to make things easier.

Is there anything you would have done differently at the start?

Bought a bigger donut machine to start out with than the smaller donut machine.

Any tips/advice to others thinking of launching a food truck?

Do your research. Will you do events only? Will you be stationed somewhere? Can you afford everything? Make something unique, simple. Don't copy everyone else and what they do, set yourself apart from everyone else!
