Finding great locations to go to every day is essential for your success as a food truck owner. Whether it is a permanent location that you have found that has a lot of pedestrian traffic or a route you follow every day, stopping at local popular spots. But if you are limiting your business to these everyday locations, then you are missing a massive opportunity for extra customers. Special events can generate a lot of additional business.
With your permanent locations, you ideally will have a steady stream of traffic throughout the day with spikes in peak times at lunch or dinner. Special events, however, offer a very high flow of customer traffic in a very short time and the benefits of this are great.
Special events provide a great marketing opportunity to attract customers that may have never run into your food truck before. Such events offer significant exposure in a short time to gain a massive amount of traffic and expand your audience.
You do not get business from all customers on the day of the event, but they become aware of your business and can easily find you again if you have a strong social media presence. You may also develop customers who seek you out on your everyday route after trying your product at an event. Hence, these special events present a large number of additional people that could become loyal customers.
Special events can also be effective and efficient because you can attend them in addition to your regular locations without a lot of extra time. You do not necessarily have to leave your regular locations to gain these extra customers. Some special events take a full day, but many can be covered in an hour or two. Consider, for example, attending your local soccer field as the games are ending.
Many events are also in the evening or on weekends, which may not interrupt your regular food truck schedule.
After you begin attending these events for a while, you can develop a schedule that allows you to maximize the amount of time you spend at your regular locations in addition to attending special events. If you get a good system going, you will be amazed at the results.
Special events may involve an application and fee to participate, so do your research to figure out which audiences are best for you.
